Two jobs created as independent city titles reveal expansion

Joshi HerrmannTwo jobs have been created as a network of three subscriber-funded city news websites prepares to expand.

Manchester Mill founder Joshi Herrmann has announced the team working on the site and its sister titles the Liverpool Post and Sheffield Tribune is set to increase from six to eight.

The announcement comes after it was revealed the Post has now attracted 1,000 paying subscribers, joining both the Mill and the Tribune in surpassing the milestone figure.

Further details have yet to be announced about the new journalists joining the network, including where they will be based.

Joshi, pictured, announced the expansion in a series of Twitter posts on Monday in which he revealed that the Mill now has 2,043 paid subscribers, the Tribune has 1,300 and the Post 1,013.

He wrote: “The brilliant Liverpool Post reaching 1k subs means 3 great northern cities now have more than 1,000 people paying for high-quality journalism.

“We’ve now got 4,355 members sustaining a team of six staff, with two more joining next month. Reader-funded local media is taking off.

“Big thanks to our members. They’re proving there is a huge appetite for great journalism and beautiful writing not produced in London.”
