HoldtheFrontPage is sponsoring two new categories at this year’s Regional Press Awards as judges prepare to announce the winners tomorrow.
With this year’s ceremony cancelled due to coronavirus, the victorious entrants in all 38 awards categories will be announced via videolink at 12 noon.
HoldtheFrontPage, which has been involved with the awards since they were revived by the Society of Editors in 2011, is sponsoring this year’s Front Page of the Year prizes for daily and weekly/Sunday newspapers.
The Young Journalist of the Year category, which has been sponsored by HTFP for the past nine years, now has a new sponsor in the shape of Amazon Prime Video.
Doing battle for the daily newspaper front page will be the Belfast Telegraph, Yorkshire Evening Post, Cambridge News, Liverpool Echo, Dundee Evening Telegraph and The Scotsman.
In the race for the weekly/Sunday newspaper award are the Reading Chronicle, Impartial Reporter, East Kent Mercury, Sunday Life, the Herald on Sunday and the MEN on Sunday.
HoldtheFrontPage publisher Paul Linford said: “After nine years of sponsoring the Young Journalist of the Year award and seeing many of its winners go on to enjoy stellar careers in the industry, we are delighted to be continuing our association with the Regional Press Awards by sponsoring the front page categories.
“In keeping with our name, we already try to showcase great front pages on a daily basis through our Front Page News channel so these two awards will be a great fit for us.”
Ian Murray, executive director of the SoE said: “We are delighted that HTFP are continuing to support the Regional Press Awards in their new capacity as sponsors of the Front Page of the Year category in both the daily and weekly/Sunday awards.
“HTFP’s support for the Young Journalist of the Year over the last nine years has been invaluable and we cannot thank them enough for the encouragement they have given and continue to give to up and coming journalists.”
