Online local news network unveils team of 10 editors

A local news network has unveiled its full team of 10 editors after launching its new corporate website.

The site has been launched to promote Nub News, which now runs 26 hyperlocal news brands across the country.

The site features profiles for chief executive officer Karl Hancock and chief technology officer Dean Waghorn, as well as regional editors including Somerset’s Tim Lethaby and Essex’s Neil Speight, whose appointments have previously been covered by HTFP.

Other editors include Joe Bulmer and Hannah Corfield in East Devon, Joseph Macey and Kurt Robson in Cornwall, Susie Watkins in Somerset, Zola Hargreaves in South Wales, Kay Kelly in Lincolnshire and Graham Hill in Leicestershire.

Nub News

Nub News was launched as a local news aggregation service in September 2018 – although it no longer runs this service – and Karl revealed in March that he eventually hopes to employ up to 200 journalists across the United Kingdom.

He has credited the “innovative way to collate community news” used by Nub News for its initial success.

Every site has a Nub It button that contributors can click on to upload their article directly.

It is then checked and edited by a journalist before it goes live.

Karl said: “It has been really exciting seeing Nub News grow so fast. There is still massive demand for proper local news.

“The local news business model is broken so we have started to reinvent the industry from the bottom up.”

“The local news business model is broken so we have started to reinvent the industry from the bottom up.”
That’s the key, young innovative eyes developing new models but using professional skilled staff with proven track records in the industry and who have experience, local knowledge and strong contacts within their local areas.
How many times do we hear those responsible for content rubbishing former staff as being out of touch, old and bitter just because they have the gall to challenge clearly short sighted or ill thought out policies aimed at getting a job done as quickly and as cheaply as possible with little regard for quality or relevance to the reader.

All the names here are well known in their respective areas and will bring credibility and professionalism to a new way of providing and funding local news.
I wish the venture contributed success.
