An editor whose role was recently made redundant has taken interim charge of a city news website.

Jon Lewis has been appointed acting editor of MyLondon after a brief spell as executive editor at Reach plc-owned sister sites Cornwall Live, Devon Live and Plymouth Live.

Jon, pictured, previously edited Reach site Dorset Live before a group-wide restructure which has left the title without a dedicated editor.

He took up his more recent role in the West Country in May.

Dorset Live senior reporter Mike Taylor later confirmed he had become de facto “editor” of the site, though without the title.

MyLondon has been without a permanent editor since it was revealed in March that Andy Worden was moving to a mystery group-wide role with Reach in March.

Chris Ballinger had subsequently served as acting editor at the site, but the company confirmed he has now returned to his previous post as head of news.

Reach has declined to comment further on Jon’s appointment.
