Editor quits regional title after five months in charge

Dan ClareAn editor has announced he is quitting a regional title after just five months in charge.

Dan Clare has revealed his departure from The Dalesman, which he joined as editor-in-chief in September.

Dan, pictured, announced he is now working his notice and will be looking for work from May onwards.

In a Linkedin post yesterday, Dan expressed the desire to join “a forward-thinking company, or companies, who consistently demonstrate substance, success [and] significance.”

Dan took over at the Skipton-based magazine from Jon Stokoe, who has since become editor of Newsquest weeklies the Craven Herald, Ilkley Gazette, Keighley News, Ryedale Gazette & Herald and Wharfedale Observer.

He wrote: “Today marks the start of my three-month notice period, which I submitted today.

“This means I will be available to commence a new chapter in my working life from Monday 2 May onwards.

“I don’t yet know what that picture will look like, but I shall be aiming to profile my skillset with a forward-thinking company, or companies, who consistently demonstrate substance, success, significance, and who are distinct.

“Whether the role will be a permanent role with a single company or freelance for several, only time will tell. But whatever the outlook, I will bring my A-game to the table every time.

“So, if any of you good people out there in LinkedIn land have an opportunity for an experienced magazine editor, who has spent 18 years working across a multitude of genres and titles – from Yorkshire and the countryside to motorcycles, health & fitness – then please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you and develop a dialogue.”

Dalesman managing director David Proud said: “We wish Dan every success in his future career.

“Dalesman is delighted with its 9pc increase in 2021 on ABC circulation, and looks forward to a positive and bright 2022.”
