City news site tops 10 million page views in a month

Chris Sherrard 1A city news website lanched last year has recorded 10 million pages views in a month for the first time since its foundation.

Belfast Live achieved the milestone over the course of July, with 1.86m unique users logging on to the site.

The announcement comes after owner Trinity Mirror highlighted Belfast Live’s performance – along with that of its sister sites Dublin Live and Glasgow Live – in its half-yearly financial report.

The site was launched in February 2015 as “a one-stop shop for all things Belfast”.

Editor Chris Sherrard, pictured above left, said: “July was an incredibly busy month, full of big stories across all areas. We have been across all of those right from the start, driving the news agenda day-in and day-out.

“It’s incredibly pleasing and humbling to still be achieving growth in visitor numbers on the site and the engagement levels have again been fantastic.

“This is the work of a very small editorial team, working long hours driven by the desire to provide the best content at all times. What sets us apart is the way we have engaged with our audience – the two-way flow of conversation between us and our readers is the key.

“We are always listening to our readers so we know what they want to read about – and they know we listen to them. We have so much more that we want to do on Belfast Live with some exciting plans in the pipeline to help take us to the next level.”

This is tremendous. Well done everyone. How much money did this make TM?

‘…work of a very small team working long hours…’
I’m sure this ‘sweatshop’ admission can’t be part of the official TM message.
They love the ‘last one to leave work’ culture privately, of course, but surely it wasn’t intended for publication?
