A reporter has helped to raise more than £2,500 for a special school by walking over hot coals.
Liam Chorley, pictured, of the Isle of Wight County Press, took on the challenge for St Catherine’s Speech and Language School.
His contribution to the overall tally raised £240 in sponsorship.
Beforehand, Liam, who describes himself as “lily-livered”, was trained by Scott Bell, twice Guinness World Record Holder for the greatest distance walked on fire and founder of UK Firewalk.
Tanya Smith, school fundraiser, said: “We want to thank all the people who took part in or came to watch our firewalk event.
“The event went well and we appreciate the money raised.
“Training was taken by world record holder Scott Bell. We look to maybe hold the event again in 2025.
“Thank you to all the staff who gave up their time to support us, locals who came and watched and of course those who took part. Events like this wouldn’t be possible without you.”
