David FootA posthumous collection of regional sports journalist’s best work is being published in a new book.

Footprints features the work of David Foot, who was described as the “doyen” of regional cricket writers following his death in 2021 at the age of 92.

David, pictured, was best known for covering Gloucestershire and Somerset during the cricket seasons, as well as Bristol City and Bristol Rovers during the football season.

He worked for titles including the Western Gazette, Bristol Evening World and Western Daily Press.

The book covers his writing on subjects ranging from cricket, football and boxing to theatre, local history and murder.

It is edited by his friend and fellow cricket writer Stephen Chalke.

It is published by Charlcombe Books in association with Fairfield Books.
