Journalist makes reporting return after leaving news site he launched

Michael Broomhead 2023 newA city news website’s launch editor who left his job amid cutbacks last month has returned to reporting in a new role with a regional daily.

Michael Broomhead has announced his appointment as a senior reporter at the Bradford Telegraph & Argus following his brief stint in charge of Derby World.

Michael, pictured, left Derby World last month having been heavily critical of its publisher National World’s recent rounds of cost-cutting.

Before serving as de facto editor of the Derby site, he was content editor at the Nottingham Post before taking voluntary redundancy from its publisher Reach plc.

Michael’s move to the Newsquest-owned Telegraph & Argus means he has now worked for all of the ‘Big Three’ UK regional publishers in the same year.

He told HTFP: “I’m pleased to have started as a senior reporter at the Bradford Telegraph & Argus – a great title with a fantastic team based in a vibrant patch.

“I’m really passionate about local and regional journalism, and I think it’s very important to see investment such as this.

“I’m looking forward to telling plenty of stories that matter to our loyal audience, contributing to growth and learning new skills.”
