Food and drink writer appointed editor of city news site

Mark taylor 1A food and drink writer with 25 years of experience in journalism has taken over the editorship of a city news website.

Bristol World has announced the appointment of Mark Taylor after previous editor Alex Ross left to join The Independent last month.

Bristol native Mark, pictured, has worked alongside Alex at the National World-owned site for the past year.

He is a former food editor and restaurant critic for the Bristol Post and, before that, worked as a restaurant inspector for The Good Food Guide.

Mark, who also edited the independent food magazine Fork, told HTFP: “As a Bristolian who has written about the city for many years, I am thrilled to be the new editor of Bristol World.

“This is an exciting time for a rapidly growing brand in a fast-changing city and I’m looking forward to steering it to the next phase.”

Alex launched Bristol World for National World in October 2021 as part of w wider strategy that has seen the group set up titles in cities not traditionally served by its newspaper.

He is now a senior reporter on The Independent, although he will continue to be based in the South-West of England.
