Editor of four weeklies adds two more titles to portfolio

Kimberley BarberThe editor of four weekly newspapers has added two more titles to her portfolio.

Newsquest has announced Kimberley Barber will take over the running of the Salisbury Journal and the Forest Journal, which covers the Ringwood, Fordingbridge and Verwood areas.

Kimberley, pictured, joined Newsquest in November last year to edit its Hampshire weeklies, having previously been business editor at Portsmouth daily The News

In her role, she has been responsible for the Hampshire Chronicle, Basingstoke Gazette, Andover Advertiser and Romsey Advertiser.

The addition of the two Journal titles to Kimberley’s portfolio comes after the retirement of Bill Browne, who was editor-in-chief and publisher for Newsquest North Hampshire and South Wiltshire until the start of this year.

Since then, responsibility for the Journal had fallen to Dorset Echo and Bournemouth Echo editor Diarmuid MacDonagh.

Speaking to HTFP, Kimberley said: “I’m delighted to expand my portfolio to include the Salisbury Journal and Forest Journal.

“The titles are relatively close geographically to my Hampshire weekly titles. I look forward to bringing the teams closer and helping them to work together.”
