Publisher targets dog owners and leisure reviewers as new titles launch

Two new niche titles are being launched by a regional publisher – dedicated to dogs and leisure venue reviews respectively.

Reach plc is launching Team Dogs, a website that will feature a directory of recommendations for pet owners including advice on the best walks, dog-friendly pubs, toys and vets across the country.

The company is also launching a project called 2Chill, which will publish reviews of restaurants, tourist attractions, beaches, bars, hotels, cottages and more.

However, the site will only carry positive recommendations unlike existing review sites such as TripAdvisor.

Team Dogs, which already has a website up and running, is being led by Alan Woods, who was recently promoted to niche brands director at Reach.

Posting on Twitter about its launch, he said: “We will shortly welcome into this world the first of the projects I’ve been working on recently.

“I’ve been very lucky to work alongside some of the most talented people in the business and can’t wait for everyone to see Team Dogs soon.”

Abigail Rabbett, Reach’s creative content director (social) for Cambs, Essex and Herts, is listed as the titles’ social media editor on Twitter.

An internal memo, which has been seen by HTFP, states of 2Chill: “It’s a recommendation website that will help people find the perfect place to ‘chill’ in their local area, or in a destination they’ve travelled to in the UK.

“2Chill will feature a variety of recommendations from restaurants to pubs, beaches to parks and museums to hotels.

“Unlike Tripadvisor and the like, this is purely for good recommendations. Places that you would tell your friends about if they asked you the best places to go in your area.”

It is understood that a number of freelances have been recruited to work on the two projects following tweets put out by several Reach editors on 2 February urging journalists looking for casual work to get in touch.

Reach declined to comment further on the two project launches at this stage when approached by HTFP.
