Transformed former daily office to open this week after lockdown delay

A regional daily’s former office is set to open in its new guise this week after a delay due to coronavirus restrictions.

The former Coventry Telegraph headquarters in Corporation Street have been transformed into a hotel following a two-year, £18m investment programme.

The owners of the hotel, pictured below, have now announced its outdoor rooftop bar, called Generators, will open from Wednesday, with the rest of the venue opening its doors to guests from 17 May.

More than 800 people are booked in to visit the covered and heated bar, which will open from Wednesday through to Sunday every week.

Amy Windsor, general manager of the Telegraph Hotel, told the newspaper: “We are thrilled that we finally have some dates that we can work towards and know that we will soon be fully operational and welcoming in guests.

“So many people have been really disappointed that we haven’t been able to open – Coventry is yearning for a touch of glamour and it will be great to see people going out to enjoy themselves.

“The fact that we can open the rooftop bar in April means that people will get a small sample of what we can offer, before being able to give the full experience in May.

“Lockdown has really heightened anticipation and our guests won’t be disappointed.”
