Charity concert to be held in memory of news editor who died aged 65

Sue CrawfordA charity concert is set to be held in memory of a regional daily news editor who died aged 65.

The Sounds for Sue concert has been organised in memory of Sue Crawford, who ran the newsdesk at the Carlisle News & Star until 2017.

Sue, pictured, died of cancer in June and the concert will raise money for the Eden Valley Hospice, where Sue was cared for during her illness.

The event has been organised by her widower Phil Taylor, also a former CN Newspapers journalist.

Phil told Cumbria Crack: “We both liked music of all kinds. I’m so thrilled that four great bands from Cumbria have agreed to play on the night, and that larger-than-life character Ian [Milburn, owner of Carlisle company IM Events] is going to compere it.”

“All the staff at Eden Valley Hospice looked after Sue with care, compassion and it has to be said a fair dose of good humour too.

“Sue’s mother died in the hospice in 2000 so she was well aware of the fantastic work the hospice does.

“I’ve always admired the team at the hospice and I know Sue would be delighted that a concert in her memory will hopefully raise lots of money for the fabulous work that team does.”

The concert will be held at the Old Fire Station, Carlisle, on Saturday 22 January.
