Regional publishing group unveils new permanent chief executive

Lorna WillisRegional publisher Archant has appointed a new chief executive after promoting its chief client officer to the role.

Lorna Willis has been unveiled as the regional publisher’s CEO after 11 years with the company.

Lorna, pictured has been a member of Archant’s executive team since 2018 and had served in her most recent role since the following year.

Her appointment follows the departure of Simon Bax, who had previously undertaken CEO duties in his role as executive chairman.

Nick Alexander had served as interim CEO since January and will now return to his role as an operating partner with Archant’s owners RCapital.

Lorna started her career at the Financial Times within its commercial function and was also the sales and sponsorship manager for the Guardian News and Media Group before joining Archant.

She said: “I am truly excited to be given this opportunity to lead the business at this most exciting time.

“I have been passionate about regional media since childhood and the recent global events have really shown its unique ability both to inspire readers and local communities and to help local businesses grow and achieve their aims.

“I am looking forward to continue to work with a team of highly passionate and talented staff and to continue the transformation of Archant to more than a publisher and more than an agency.”

Arhcant has also announced Nick Steven-Jones, currently chief financial officer, has been appointed to the role of chief operating officer alongside his present duties.
