Archant makes ‘company turnaround specialist’ interim CEO

Nick Alexander 1Archant has promoted a “company turnaround specialist” it hired last month to the role of interim chief executive.

The regional publisher has appointed Nick Alexander to the post, which he takes up with immediate effect.

Nick, pictured, joined the company’s executive team last month after the departure of Simon Bax, who had previously undertaken CEO duties in his role as executive chairman.

He is described as a “company turnaround specialist” who previously led the 2015 takeover of the Rotherham Advertiser by Regional Media Ltd.

Nick remains an active director at Regional Media, according to Companies House.

His appointment was confirmed this morning in an email sent to Archant staff by chief people and transformation officer Dee Willmott, which has been seen by HTFP.

In the memo, Dee wrote: “I am delighted to announce that Nick Alexander is taking on the role of interim CEO.

“Nick joins Archant with a wealth of experience in business transformation.

“He is exceptionally passionate about Archant and our sector having held key roles with media and publishing – as well as retail, manufacturing, engineering, printing and facilities management.

“He has also worked closely with Archant’s owners, Rcapital, on various projects.”

In addition to Archant’s executive team, head of specialist magazines Dom Holtham and Archant Dialogue agency director Zoe Francis will report to Nick.

Dee added: “The executive team have worked with Nick for the past few weeks and we have been genuinely excited by his energy, support and candour, as we look to emerge from Covid-19 with increased strength and success.”

Archant has declined to comment further on Nick’s appointment.
