Editor axed from role after more than 20 years at weekly

Jo ScrivinAn editor has been made redundant after more than 20 years working for a weekly newspaper.

Jo Scrivin, pictured, has left the Ross Gazette, which serves the town of Ross-on-Wye.

Her departure was revealed in an interview with hyperlocal title Ross-on-line, which is run by her former Gazette colleague Charlotte Reynolds.

HTFP has approached Gazette owner Tindle Newspapers for information on who will now edit the paper.

Jo told Ross-on-line: “After 20 years travelling between my home in Pontypool and Ross it seems very strange to have spent so much time at home.

“Thankfully social media and technology is keeping people together.

“I have been so pleased to see reports of the wonderful ways Ross people have pulled together at this difficult time, and I really miss talking to you all and reporting it.

“I would like to thank you for all your support over the past 20 years and I hope to visit Ross as soon as I can, when restrictions are lifted, but for now will stay safe at home.”

During her tenure, Jo oversaw the 150th anniversary of the Gazette in 2017.

Charlotte said: “I was lucky enough to work with Jo for 13 years, and during this time she became a dear friend as well as a colleague. I wish her all the best for the future.”
