Friday Funnies: No top marks for GCSE headline error

GCSE funny

GCSE results days can be hectic affairs for regional newsrooms – but the above front page headline error is sure to cost the Northamptonshire Telegraph a few marks.

However well the county’s year 11s may have done, it was perhaps not the newspaper’s finest performance.

It’s not funny though, is it? Funny would be a double-entendre or similar that no-one spotted (or did and let it go). No, this is just another manifestation of ever-decreasing standards and should have been spotted at the various levels of subbing. Oh. Right.

You want to see appalling literals? Try the BBC News Channel’s main and scrolling headlines sometime. Not just the regional press infected by lack of accurate subbing.
