A regional daily has apologised after its Saturday edition hit the shops on Sunday due to a production error.
Readers of Portsmouth-based daily The News were unable to buy a copy from shops in the Hampshire city on Saturday due to an issue at the newspaper’s presses overnight from Friday.
The issue also affected delivery to shops in Havant and Waterlooville, as well as the Isle of Wight.
However all deliveries to Fareham and Gosport were unaffected and readers were able to pick up their copy as usual from all outlets on Saturday.
Direct delivery customers in the affected areas also received their copies on time as usual.
In a message to readers on Saturday, editor Mark Waldron said: “I would like to apologise to all our readers for any problems you experience picking up The News today and any inconvenience this causes.
“The production issues have hit our normal delivery service and I thank you for your loyalty, patience and understanding while we work to get everything back to normal over this weekend.”
No real surprise here. I’ve always thought that JP don’t know what day it is.
