A group of regional sister newspapers have launched a bid to celebrate eco-friendly businesses.
Trinity Mirror titles in the West of England have announced the ‘Green 50′ initiative, which aims to reward companies across the region which are doing something to help save the planet.
The campaign will culminate in a celebration event in the autumn and the publication of the West of England Green 50 list in the Western Daily Press, Bristol Post and Bath Chronicle.
It comes two years after Bristol served as the 2015 Green Capital of Europe.
Chronicle editor Rachael Sugden, pictured above left, said: “We hosted the Green Capital Awards 2015, we launched the inaugural Bristol and Bath Environmental Awards in 2016 and this year, we are going to celebrate businesses across the West of England who are doing their bit to save the planet.
“Through our Green 50 shortlist, we will shine a spotlight (one using an energy saving light bulb, of course) on companies and organisations in the region, including Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, which are embracing a green culture in the way they operate.”
Dave Broadway, chairman of headline sponsor CFH Docmail Ltd, added: “Entering the West of England Green 50 Awards is not just about celebrating your company’s achievements but also a wonderful opportunity to showcase and share best practice with other businesses.
“It’s hugely motivational to learn about the creative individuals and the solutions that have been used to make our operations more sustainable and kinder to the environment, as we all strive to do better in reducing our impact on the wonderful cities in which we live and work.”
The Western Daily Press, Bristol Post and Bath Chronicle certainly do their bit for recycling – by publishing many identical syndicated features in their bland magazine supplements..
