Schoolkids to visit regional daily as part of summer holiday programme

Terry HuntA regional daily is opening its office doors to schoolchildren as part of a summer holiday scheme.

The East Anglian Daily Times has teamed up with Suffolk County Council for the authority’s ‘Enterprise Explorer Days’ summer programme, which gives people aged 12 to 18 an opportunity to learn more about the world of work.

Those involved will be able to learn about journalism skills – including content creation, photography, video and digital media as well as advertising.

The programme is running from Monday to Friday this week.

EADT editor Terry Hunt, pictured above left, said: “This is the first time we have invited young people into our offices to gain a real insight into every department, get involved in every aspect of creating pages and then take it right through to publication.

“Our staff are planning some great challenges and are really excited about working with an enthusiastic group of young people.”

As part of the week-long programme, the participants will also visit the farm of Jimmy Doherty, which was the subject of BBC TV show Jimmy’s Farm.
