Friday Funnies: Campaigners out of Yarm’s way despite weekly’s headline

Yarm funny

While 5 November is usually associated with the attempted use of explosives in London, readers of Tyneside weekly the News Guardian’s website may have been shocked to discover the town of Yarm had been bombed.

Thankfully for Yarm, which lies around 40 miles south of the News Guardian’s patch, a spelling error in the headline was at fault for any alarm caused.

It was in fact a “yarn bombing” which had taken place in North Shields, as campaigners adorned its streets with woollen items to raise awareness of vulnerable adults at risk of abuse in the area.

My girfriend tells me her local JP rag where she lives down in Sussex is still billing “first day at school” kiddy pictures. (circa September!) Seems they haven’t caught up with the fast media world when it comes to promoting their product on the streets.

I cant remember which newspaper group’s media guru said it, but apparently deliberate errors create engagement….

Being wrong is an actual thing now.
