Former daily printworks could bounce back as trampoline park

A disused regional daily printworks could become a trampoline park if given the green light by planning chiefs.

An application has been submitted to transform the former Derby Telegraph printworks at Meadow Road, Derby, into a development called ‘Jumptastic’.

Kent-based Air Leisure UK has applied to Derby City Council to develop the “new type of fun facility”, which would create 43 jobs.

The building, pictured below, which sits next to the River Derwent, was first used by the Telegraph in 1981.

The print operation ceased a couple of years before the Telegraph’s editorial staff relocated from the adjacent office to its new base closer to the city centre, on Siddals Road, last November.

The site is currently owned by 4×4 Properties Limited, having been sold off earlier this year by the Telegraph’s former owner, DMGT.

The application states the ground floor of the site will be the main arena for the trampolines which will also incorporate a zone for beginners and younger children who also wish to use the facilities.

The ground floor will also feature a generous reception, while the first floor will provide accommodation for the proposed cafe facilities, children’s party rooms and all associated kitchen and toilet facilities.

The application adds: “The build will incorporate a fun and decorative design appealing to children in order to create a unique play area within Derby.

“Car parking facilities will also be provided.”
