Newspaper publisher teams up for online dating

A newspaper publisher has added another string to its digital bow – this time on the path to true love.

Trinity Mirror has announced a partnership with White Label Dating to launch Mirror Matches, a new online dating site.

TM intends to capitalise on its group-wide digital audience of more than 65m monthly users, as well as promoting the new site through its portfolio of regional and national titles.

Serving as a brand extension of Mirror Online, the new service will teams up with a business which has a network of more than 1,700 international partners – the largest in the dating industry.

Mark O’Donnell, head of group partnerships at the publisher, said: “This is the latest stage of our strategy of partnering with the very best providers in order to offer our users an engaging, valuable and first class customer experience.”

This deal follows Trinity Mirror’s recent partnership with Playtech, which saw the launch of the Mirror and Record’s new bingo and casino platforms.

Bingo, casino, online dating. They’re all doing it. So classy. Losing money gambling via your local paper is such an engaging, valuable and first class experience, as the man so rightly says. For “capitalising” on your digital audience read “exploiting”. It’s shameless. Oh the stories I could tell.
