Director of Scottish Newspaper Society steps down

The director of the Scottish Newspaper Society has stepped down after less than a year in the role.

Jim Chisholm was appointed to lead the organisation last June but said he had found it too much to combine the role with his work as an international media consultant.

He said: “I have two lives – one with the SNS and the other my international consulting firm. It became fairly clear that I couldn’t do both.”

His role is now being carried out on an interim basis by former director Jim Raeburn, who headed the SNS and its predecessor organisations since 1994 until last year.

A search for a new director of the society will now take place.

Jim Chisholm is a former executive of The Press and Journal and The Scotsman, who has become known as an outspoken media analyst.
