Digital newsgathering service launched by publisher

A new social media platform has been launched by regional newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror to pick out stories it thinks users will enjoy most.

Named Unmissab.ly, the free-to-use newsgathering site is now available in its beta version and is open to public testing.

It works by finding top stories from social media sites and bringing them together in one place. Currently, people can sign up using their Twitter and/or Facebook log-ins.

Users will be able to see in a glance the top stories shared by their contacts, with a database of what interests them built up by Unmissab.ly based on what stories they click on.

The site will also send a daily summary of links to the top stories from the previous 24 hours.

Trinity Mirror product director Malcolm Coles urged people to sign up and give the service a go, and invited people to offer their feedback.

“Unmissab.ly is a fantastic new experimental service we have been developing – we’d really love to know what everyone thinks of it,” he said.

To register as a tester, visit the Unmissab.ly site.

Good start, this link doesn’t work….. perhaps the Unmissab.ly idea won’t work either!

Call me an old cynic but I’m up to the back teeth with these “fantastic new experimental services”
