A Yorkshire weekly has appointed a 17-year-old schoolgirl as its new film reviewer.
Self-confessed film buff Megan Appleyard, left, has been given a monthly film review column by her lopcal paper, the Halifax Courier.
Megan, who wants to become a film journalist, is currently studying for her A-levels at North Halifax Grammar school.
Announcing her appointment, the paper said: “We thought it was a great idea to give her a first opportunity here in the Courier.”
Said Megan: “My love of film goes back as far as I can remember. The film that stands out to me is definitely ET. But my love of cinema has developed to darker yet equally brilliant features like The Shining, Girl Interrupted and Black Swan.”
Her column kicks off next week with a critique of Adam Sandler’s That’s My Boy.
I hope she doesn’t use “self-confessed” in her write-ups.
It’s just confessed. (you can’t confess for someone else).Common error.
No doubt she is being paid a suitable rate for the job?
