Here’s a lovely front page headline/picture juxtaposition from the Ballyclare Gazette, in County Antrim.  Well, it made us laugh!

    It’s easy to see how they could be seen as intimidating. Look at those teeth.

    Hmm…pic stories without headlines are vulnerable to this sort of thing – a little more thought would have made it all work better. First, the three column text needs to go – a two column layout is much easier on the reader’s eye. Then, sizing the picture down by about three percent would have created enough room to box it out properly with a bolder rule and some white space, or a tint/WOB box for the whole ensemble, either of which would have held it off from the splash headline. A bolder crop at the bottom would have allowed for a one-line header too.
