Former football journalist tells physio’s tale

A former regional Scottish football reporter will see the launch of his second book this week.

Paul Kiddie, former reporter with the Edinburgh Evening News, has co-written Hands on Hearts, a memoir of the former Hearts Football Club physiotherapist Alan Rae who was with the club for 23 years until 2005.

Paul has been the football club’s communications manager for four years following a short spell working in Florida.

He had previously spent ten years with the Evening News, six of them as Hearts Reporter.

Paul’s first book Great Tynecastle Tales was co-written with the Scottish Daily Mail’s Rob Robertson and published six years ago.

A portion of the proceeds from Hands on Hearts is being donated to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, commonly referred to as the Sick Kids.

A book launch will be held at Waterstone’s Edinburgh Princes Street branch at 6pm on Wednesday 2 November.

Various former Hearts players are expected to join the two writers. Tickets are £2 and are redeemable against a purchase of the book on the night.
