New editorship for Mike Lowe

Former Bristol Evening Post editor Mike Lowe is to join Archant as editor of magazine Cotswold Life.

Mike resigned from his role as editor and director of Northcliffe’s Bristol title in June last year, shortly before the publisher announced its group-wide efficiency project focusing on ways to save at least £20m a year.

He had been at the Evening Post, the biggest-selling evening paper in the South West, since 1996, and during his time there it won several industry awards.

He had worked for Northcliffe since 1983, joining as a sports writer in Lincoln, and later working at the Hull Daily Mail and The Sentinel in Stoke-on-Trent.

He also edited The Citizen in Gloucester and the Derby Evening Telegraph, before moving to Bristol.

Mike’s new role will see him take charge of the Cheltenham-based monthly lifestyle magazine Cotswold Life, which has a readership of more than 67,000.

Archant bought the title in May 2001 from David MacDonald and his family, who had owned the title since 1997, and it is one of more than 20 titles that it publishes under the ‘Life’ banner across the country.
