Job Description
Rhotic Media writes for global newswires, B2B magazines, national newspapers, consumer websites and trade journals.
The company has seen rapid growth in its first three years, driven by its business model of offering editorial support to the global financial news industry, and corporate content to banks, asset managers, technology firms, and consultants in the professional services sector.
In any one week, our team produces the broadest possible range of written content, ranging from corporate sustainability reports to independent financial news stories. Our clients rely on us to have a well-rounded understanding of the global economic and investment landscape, and to be able to recognise topical themes and unravel technical jargon.
The company is managed by an executive team of experienced journalists that have worked for the three largest financial media groups in the world.
THE ROLE
This position is an exciting development role for those new to financial writing. It pairs on-the-job training with a university degree. Trainees following this programme will learn about the broadest range of content, ranging from news and features to surveys and reports. The role is designed to allow candidates to develop their skillset across all of Rhotic’s operational sectors during the three-year traineeship.
Successful candidates will follow one of two digital marketing pathways, accredited by either London South Bank University or the University of Central Lancashire. The cost of your degree will be covered by Rhotic Media and your salary will increase automatically as you pass each year of your course.
Rhotic trainees will write news and features content under guidance from experienced, qualified journalists and corporate content under guidance from former in-house financial professionals. Over the three years, we want our journalists to build a solid understanding of capital markets and to build a useful book of contacts to carry on beyond the apprenticeship. By graduation in year three, we expect trainees to have amassed an impressive portfolio of work across a broad range of sectors.
During each week of your apprenticeship, you will be expected to dedicate three days to client work and two days to study.
This role begins on Monday 2 August 2021, with academic training on campus in London or Preston starting the following month.
SALARY
£20,000 (Year 1)
£21,000 (Year 2)
£22,000 (Year 3)
£25,000 (at graduation)
WHO WE WANT
We hope this position will appeal to applicants from a broad range of backgrounds. While it may suit a school leaver looking to get into financial journalism, it would equally suit someone returning to work after starting, or raising, a family. All we ask is that you make a great case for why you are interested in joining us, explaining what it is that appeals about financial writing. In return, we promise you a welcoming work environment that will allow you to play to your strengths and grow as a professional.
