About the role:
Millions of people in the UK are living in poverty JRF’s mission is to work with others to solve it. JRF’s strategy is designed to build public and political will for the need for change and demand for solutions; to develop credible solutions with those who have the power to effect change, and to hold governments and others to account for their impact on poverty.
We are recruiting two senior media officers. This is a rare opportunity to join our small but high-performing team.
We are looking for people with a flair for telling compelling stories about poverty, so that public and political will can be built to fix it. Your experience could come from working in news journalism, features or documentaries, public affairs and campaigns, or from previous work in a fast-paced in-house press office or PR agency.
The working hours are full time, but we welcome and encourage applications from candidates with flexible working arrangements, including but not restricted to, part time, home working, compressed hours, job shares.
Whatever your background, we are looking for people with the skills, enthusiasm and drive to amplify the voices of our policy experts and experts by lived experience. Whether it is preparing someone with experience of poverty for their first broadcast interview, writing a fast comment in response to breaking news, or refining key messages from academic research, we need strong communicators who can adapt to different audiences and make the most of our insights about how to frame poverty in a way that motivates people to solve it.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) is an independent social change organisation working to solve UK poverty. The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) is a registered housing association and care provider in Yorkshire and the North East. JRF and JRHT are two important influencing organisations with an ambitious agenda for inspiring positive change in the UK in line with our vision of a prosperous and poverty free UK.
