Regional sports journalist receives national statistics award

A regional sports journalist has been honoured for his work in the field of cricket statistics.

Andrew Radd has been presented with the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians’ Statistician of the Year Award.

Andrew, pictured, covers Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for BBC Radio Northampton and has also been heard on the station’s news bulletins since the 1980s.

David Kendix, president of the ACS, said he was a “well-deserved winner” and “a distinguished scholar and historian of the game”.

Gavin Warren, president of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, said: “As a club we’re proud [of Andrew]. It’s a just reward.

“His passion for the game is second to none and the information and the dedication and the stats he comes up with are just phenomenal.

“Radders wanted a low-key presentation today and I made sure that wasn’t going to happen.

“We are just a fraction of the time of the club’s existence, to remember the past… we’re just here in 2025 and we’ve got to remember what happened all those years ago. Radders helps us do that.

“He’s so passionate about it, we’re lucky to have him and he’s a national treasure.”
