The Isle of Wight County Press retained its position as the biggest-selling paid-for weekly in the UK despite an 11.3pc drop in sales, according to the latest regional ABCs.
The title – now owned by Newsquest – sold an average 8,940 copies in the calendar year 2024, down from 10,084 the previous year.
Newsquest titles also took second and third spots on the circulation league table, with the Hereford Times standing at 8,427 weekly copies and the Darlington & Stockton Times on 7,960.
London’s free Standard – now a weekly title – was the biggest selling free newspaper with an average circulation of 273,631.
Overall the weekly titles showed some resilience during 2024 with lower circulation falls on average than their daily counterparts.
Only two titles increased their weekly sale, however – both part of Scottish publisher Wyvex Media.
They were the Arran Banner, with a 16.8pc sales rise, and the Campbelltown Courier and Agryllshire Advertiser, up 10.3pc.
At the other end of the spectrum, Baylis Media’s Maidenhead Advertiser lost more than half its sales, with a weekly average of 2,799.
