The Manchester Evening News retained its place as the most-viewed UK regional news website during December according to the latest IPSOS web traffic figures.
The MEN scored a double first with 62m page viewsand 10.6m unique users, overhauling sister title the Birmingham Mail on the latter metric.
Reach websites continued to dominate the chart placings for both page views and audience, with Surrey Live – previously known as Get Surrey – leaping into the top 10.
It posted a threefold increase in unique users compared to December 2023 and a sevenfold increase in page views, with 34.8m during the course of the month.
By contrast Reach titles scored less well on engagement with Newsquest brands topping the table for average minutes per user.
Carlisle’s News & Star website placed first on this metric with an average 7.6 minutes, while the MEN and Birmingham Live do not even appear in the Top 50.
