Local football title welcomes fresh investment in its annual awards

Tom Canning 2022The editor of a local football news website has welcomed fresh investment in the title’s annual awards.

Football in Berkshire editor Tom Canning has hailed the boost for the Berkshire Football Awards.

It comes after TradeMark Windows, which has sponsored Berkshire football clubs including Maidenhead United and Wokingham & Emmbrook in the past, was announced as title partner for the scheme.

As well as a brand new Grounds Team of the Season award, there are categories for Volunteers, Players, Managers, Writers and Content Creators in this year’s awards, which are now welcoming nominations.

Tom, pictured, said: “The addition of a title partner for the Berkshire Football Awards is a positive reinforcement of this event we put on every year.

“Post-Covid, with the support of the local football community, we decided to ‘go big’ on the event and move it to a larger venue at Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading. The brewery is a favourite venue of mine and their support has been invaluable.

“Since we moved venue, we’ve sold it out every year and we’ve increased the number of individual award sponsors culminating last year in having a sponsor for each one. Now with TradeMark taking on the title partnership, we are able to put on an even better event including an improved live stream.

“It really is the feel-good football night of the year in my humble opinion and this means we’ll be able to share it with even more people. The money we raise from events like this ensure the site’s continuation but also means we are able to work on other initiatives.”
