A journalist has started his career as a local democracy reporter straight after graduating.

Oliver Castle has joined Iliffe Media’s Lincolnshire news website Lincs Online under the BBC-funded scheme.

His appointment comes in the same month he completed a BA in journalism at the University of Lincoln.

The official X account of the university’s journalism department congratulated Oliver, pictured, on his appointment.

It posted: “Massive congratulations to Oliver Castle, who’s barely even left us and is already a working journalist

“Just appointed local democracy reporter at Lincs Online. Good luck, Oliver – we can’t wait to read your stuff.”

In reply, Oliver wrote: “Thank you very much. I couldn’t have done it without the brilliant teaching from all my lecturers.”
