A long-serving group editor with more than 30 years’ experience in the local press has been made redundant.
Susan Windram, pictured, will leave her role as group editor of Wyvex Media at the end of this week after nearly a decade with the company.
Susan joined Wyvex in December 2015 as editor of the Oban Times and her role was later expanded to take in other titles in the group.
A small number of other staff are also leaving the Scottish publisher in a move which is understood to relate to the recent 1p increase in employer national insurance contributions.
Before joining Wyvex, Susan had already enjoyed a lengthy career in the regional press, having spent 14 years at The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News before becoming editor of the Southern Reporter in 2005.
She went on to become group editor of the Selkirk-baesed Reporter and ten other titles in the Tweeddale Press stable, then owned by Johnston Press.
There followed a brief stint as a writer and sub-editor with Scottish Field magazine before she returned to local news with Wyvex.
At the time, she described it as “a fantastic opportunity for me to return to my first love – local weekly newspapers.”
Wyvex Media has been approached for comment.
