County magazine marks diamond anniversary with prize giveaway

19402298A county-wide magazine is celebrating its 60th birthday this month with a souvenir issue and a 60-prize giveaway.

Sussex Life was originally launched in May 1965 priced two shillings and sixpence – the equivalent of 13p today – and featured articles on why Chichester Cathedral was collapsing and an infestation of death watch beetle in East Grinstead.

Now owned by Newsquest, the title is celebrating its diamond anniversary by offering readers the chance to win a glittering array of prizes including a four-carat diamond pendant worth £3,000.

Also up for grabs are a one-night stay for two at Ashdown Park Hotel, a £500 Ionian Villas voucher for an escape to Greece and a 60-minute ‘flight’ in a Spitfire Simulator from spitfires.com

The Diamond Anniversary souvenir special edition of Sussex Life went on sale on Friday 23 May, 2025 while readers can also go online at sussexlife.co.uk to enter the competition.

The title will also host an exclusive birthday party with VIP guests and a selection of subscribers in attendance at Tottington Manor on Friday 27 June.

Editor Karen Pasquali Jones says: “It’s a phenomenal achievement to be celebrating our diamond anniversary. Sussex Life celebrates the very best in our county and even though we are 60 we don’t look it.

“The magazine is a heritage title but it’s constantly evolving to appeal to a multi-generational audience with its vibrant mix of content and glossy, upmarket design.

“The content may have changed over the decades but our values haven’t – we put our readers at the heart of everything we do and that’s why we are giving away 60 gorgeous prizes and have invited loyal subscribers along to the celebrations.

“This is a very exciting anniversary, and we are looking forward to the next 60 years.”
