Union invites applications for editor of in-house magazine

Journalist-Cover-Dec-2021The National Union of Journalists is inviting applications for the post of editor of The Journalist, its bi-monthly magazine for union members.

The post, which is subject to election by the union membership every five years, has been held by former industrial editor of The Times Christine Buckley since 2009.

Christine’s latest five-year term expires this year and the union is now inviting candidates to put themselves forward.

Christine, who began her career working for local newspapers including the Bedfordshire Express, Windsor Observer and Slough and Windsor Express, has confirmed that she will be seeking re-election for a fourth term.

She told HTFP: “There’s an election every five years. I will be standing again but as always it’s up to the membership.”

The part-time post is offered either as a two-day a week contract of employment or as a freelance contract.  It is based at the NUJ’s head office in London or the union’s Glasgow or Dublin office.

The Journalist is published six times a year and aims to give members comprehensive news and features about their industries and the union’s activities.

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is noon, Monday 24 June and must be emailed to [email protected].

Application forms and further information are available here.
