Senior judge to deliver keynote address at SoE conference

One of the country’s most senior judges is to give a keynote address at the Society of Editors conference this Spring.

The Lady Chief Justice, Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, has been named as one of the speakers at the year’s biggest media industry gathering, due to take place on 30th April in London.

Key topics under discussion at the event will include the future of AI and journalism, re-setting police and media relations, and engaging new audiences in politics ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Confirmed speakers from the regional press include Newsquest’s head of editorial AI Jody Doherty-Cove and Maria Breslin, editor of the Liverpool Echo.

Announcing Baroness Carr’s participation, SoE presisdent Kamal Ahmed said: “As the first Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales we are delighted that Baroness Carr has chosen the Society’s upcoming 25th anniversary conference to speak to an audience of leading journalists.

“Alongside the importance of open justice and transparency, we look forward to hearing her ambitions for the role as well as her thoughts on how the industry may work with the judiciary to increase coverage of courts both at a local and national level.”
