Regional editor hosts publisher’s new books podcast

Booky (1)-1400x1400A regional publisher has launched a new podcast about the literary world with a book-loving editor as its host.

Booky, the latest online offering from National World, will be presented by Nicola Adam, the company’s editor-in-chief (North) and a former radio presenter with BBC Lancashire.

Each week, Nicola will be chatting to a different author about their journey to publication, the highs and the lows of their career and asks for tips for other writers trying to get on the publishing ladder.

The ‘friendly, literary snob-free’  podcast is being promoted across National World’s network of websites and social accounts and is also available in video format on Daily Motion and as a series on the company’s Freeview TV channel Shots.

Said Nicola: “It’s an absolute dream to be able to talk about my passion, books and writing, and my guests have been extremely generous in sharing their ups and downs as well as some very wise advice to the many out there trying to make it as a writer.

“It allows us to access new audiences in different ways and away from our news agenda. The authors share ups and downs including their rejections and low points along the way and the result is hugely inspiring – as well as informative.”

Writers lined up for the first series include Times best-selling romantic fiction author Milly Johnson, political speech writer turned children and YA writer Joanna Nadin, crime and thriller writer Will Carver, best-selling ‘Northerners’ author (and former Telegraph/FT writer) Brian Groom and rom com writer Danielle Owen Jones.

National World says the launch is part of its strategy to “build on the knowledge, passions and skills of its journalists to create great content in all formats.”
