Regional daily team to be based at hotel one day a week

Journalists at a regional daily who normally work remotely are to be based at a hotel in the heart of their patch for one day a week.

Under a new partnership with hotel giant Holiday Inns, editorial staff at the Blackpool Gazette will be based at its newly-opened Blackpool outlet each Tuesday.

Conference facilities at the £34m hotel are being made available to the paper’s journalists who normally work remotely at a number of locations across the town.

The hotel, which boasts a Marco Pierre White restaurant, opened on 1 May this year and is located on the new £350m Talbot Gateway next to Blackpool North Railway Station.

Gazette editor Vanessa Sims said: “I am really excited about our new partnership with the Holiday Inn.

“The facilities here are second to none and give my team a chance to connect in person in the heart of our special town once a week.

“The Gazette team love working remotely from different places and venues across the town but to have a base where we can all meet in person every week is invaluable.

“I would definitely recommend the facilities here at the Holiday Inn for any business in need of conferencing facilities for away days.”

Laura Taylor, director of sales and marketing at Holiday Inn Blackpool, said: “It’s fantastic to collaborate with such a prominent local brand. Our facilities are designed to meet the diverse needs of local businesses, and providing the Blackpool Gazette team with a reliable base on a weekly basis has been invaluable.

“This partnership not only strengthens ties with the community but also aligns with Holiday Inn Blackpool’s commitment to giving back—a core aspect of the company’s ethos.

“The hotel’s multi-purpose meeting space, featuring three versatile room sizes, has become a valuable asset for local businesses, offering flexibility and convenience for a wide range of events and functions.

“We’re proud to support the business community and play a role in its growth. Our meeting spaces are perfect for everything from corporate gatherings to local events, and we’re delighted to see them being put to such good use.”
