Red Dawn: How regional titles reported Labour’s landslide

Britain woke up to a seismic political change this morning as Labour swept into power with a majority of 170-plus following yesterday’s general election.

For the UK’s local journalists, it was the culmination of a gruelling six-week campaign followed by a long night bringing readers the results from their local constituencies.

With the broadcasters’ 10pm exit poll accurately predicting the Labour landslide, the country’s regional dailies were able to confidently splash on the outcome as their first editions went to press.
