An independent publisher has launched a bid to help newsagents and others involved in the selling of newspapers and magazines who are facing difficult times.
Tindle Newspapers Ltd has lent its support to industry charity NewstrAid with what it calls “a significant corporate donation”.
The money will help NewstrAid to continue their work in providing financial help, emotional support and practical advice to those working in the sale and distribution of newspapers and magazines who find themselves in hardship.
In 2023 NewstrAid supported nearly 800 people with regular financial assistance in addition to providing one off grants, emotional support and practical assistance to hundreds more.
Scott Wood, pictured, managing director of Tindle, said: “We are pleased to support NewstrAid in their work helping people connected to the selling and distribution of newspapers and magazines during times of hardship.
“With a reputation for publishing community-based news and information, Tindle Newspapers Ltd understands the strong bond felt by people in the publishing community and want to play our part in helping others.
“By supporting those who work or have worked in our industry, we can ensure they and their families get assistance at times when they need it most.”
Neil Jagger, CEO for NewstrAid, added: “We are thrilled that Tindle Newspapers are supporting the work of our charity with this fantastic corporate donation.
“NewstrAid has been supporting people from the newstrade for 185 years thanks to the financial generosity of businesses and individuals from all sectors of our industry and we are delighted that Tindle Newspapers will be joining this special group of industry donors to whom we are so very grateful.”
