New website brings five print brands under one platform

An independent publisher is celebrating the launch of a new website which brings five of its print brands under one online platform.

Wyvex Media has recently launched West Coast Today as an umbrella for its print titles the Oban Times, Argyllshire Advertiser, Arran Banner, Campbeltown Courier and Lochaber Times.

The site brings together in one place all the group’s content from Scotland’s West Highlands and Islands for the first time.

It is being overseen by Brian Hossack, who joined Wyvex as head of online content in 2023 after 10 years as editor of the Greenock Telegraph.

Said Brian:  “We are incredibly pleased with how West Coast Today has been received by both visitors to the site and our advertisers.

“It gives us a powerful, modern platform to showcase all of the exclusive local content our teams are generating every day on their patches. The whole site has been custom-built and designed to make the user experience as smooth as possible, and we feel it is among the best out there.

“We now cover the West Highlands and Islands in their entirety, all in one place.

“We believe there is a real market for boots-on-the-ground local journalism, journalism which not only holds decision-makers to account, but also connects with communities and showcases the achievements of the people who live on the west coast and on our islands.”

Added Brian: “We are delighted with the growth we are already seeing. The feedback from our readers has been tremendous, West Coast Today is already a valued and trusted place for local news and we are confident that this subscriber base will continue to grow as the brand becomes more established.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the business and the company has invested a significant sum of money in making sure that the next step in our digital transformation is a successful one. The surge in audience we have already witnessed fills us with confidence that a bright future lies ahead.”
