Former regional daily colleagues will host a nautically-themed wine tasting evening tomorrow to raise funds for a church organ.

Jane Clare and Peter Elson, pictured, who worked for the Liverpool Echo, will hold the event in aid of the organ at St Anne’s Church, in Aigburth Road, Liverpool.

Ex-Liverpool Daily Post reporter Peter worked as a feature and business writer before being appointed dedicated shipping correspondent for the Echo and launching his popular Shipping Lines column.

Jane worked in journalism as an editor, commercial editor and editorial training manager.

According to the Echo, this Saturday’s event is inspired by Liverpool’s shipping heyday.

Tickets cost £25 and include a bowl of Scouse and all wines. Cash raised will go towards the church’s organ restoration fund.
