An editor has called for the region he serves to “shout about” itself more.
Mark Drew, editor of Wolverhampton’s Express & Star, has made the call to mark Black Country Day, which took place on Sunday.
Mark, pictured, vowed the Express & Star would use the occasion to promote the Black Country – and urged readers to do the same.
First celebrated in 2013, Black Country Day takes place each year on 14th July – the anniversary of the invention of the Newcomen steam engine.
In an editorial, Mark wrote: “We make no apologies for making a big deal of it.
“The E&S will this week be looking at some of the elements that make the Black Country special – the industry, the culture, the unique food and drink and, most importantly, the people.
“The Black Country is a remarkable place to live, work and play. It deserves to be cherished.”
