Amy Winehouse film director guest edits singer’s local paper

The director of the new Amy Winehouse biopic took over as guest editor of the singer’s old local newspaper.

The Camden New Journal invited Sam Taylor-Johnson to take on the role for its latest edition published on Friday.

She chose to splash on an interview with the stepmother of Camden resident Ms Winehouse, who died in 2011 aged just 27.

Jane Winehouse spoke to the New Journal about the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which aims to educate young people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Ms Taylor-Johnson also chose to run a number of stories about the creative arts towards the front of the book.

An eight-page film supplement was included too.

Ms Taylor-Johnson became only the second guest editor in the New Journal’s 42-year history.

The post was previously given to Madness singer Suggs in 2021.
