A weekly newspaper has used its front page to celebrate the return of an awards scheme it organises after being “mothballed” for years.

The Dunfermline Press has revived its Community Champion Awards, which aims to reward and celebrate people who makes its patch a better place.

Announcing the awards’ return, the Press siad Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns meant it had to “mothball” the event.

The paper splashed on their return last week.  Eleven awards will up for grabs in total.

Press editor Kevin McRoberts said: “It’s been a difficult last few years for so many people in our communities, but these last few years have also seen a great many people step up to help those less fortunate than themselves, giving their time and efforts to make other people’s lives that little bit better.

“We want to recognise, reward and thank these amazing people.”
